Field Trip to Curves

On Monday after school we went to Digital Divas.  First we told Katie our pedometer numbers for the week.  Then we talked about Curves- the fitness club that Faith's aunt runs- and all that stuff.  Then we were off on our walk to Curves.  When we were finally at Curves we met Faith's aunt and told her about the Digital Divas and told her our names.  Then we went into Curves.  We changed our shoes because we didn't want to get the equipment dirty.  Then we learned an exercise circuit that takes you through all the machines and boards two times.  The boards were bouncy and they felt exactly like you were running outside but they were better for your joints. We tried out all the equipment. When we were done we had to stretch to help our muscles cool down.  Then we changed back to our regular shoes and went outside to take pictures.  Faith's aunt Jannan gave us all brochures with ponytail holders and balloons.  Then our parents picked us up and Digital Divas was over.

At Digital Divas we took a picture of all of us together. Then Chandra read a paragraph about what sports she liked to play. Then we went inside and started working on Garage Band that we have been working on for 2 weeks. We  recorded voices that sounded like we were playing outside during recess with a long school bell.When some people were done with Garage band we told Nikki how much miles we got with our pedometers. Then Allison L. and me started being silly and drawing Sponge Bob and other CRAZY  stuff like that! Then when people were starting to get ready to go home we listend to music and danced for a little bit then Digital Divas was over!

We did the pledge and talked about our pedometers.We also counted our miles for Walk Our World. Emily brought up ipod touches. The digital divas did a video chat with Jenny Cummings. We introduced our selfs to her. She showed some of her pictures. She   went with Jenny and Katie to school. She has two daughters. On October 21st her daughter took a picture of her wich she really never does because she was obese.In one month she lost 30 pounds and her husband lost 20 pounds! She could not find a size that could fit her. She stopped going to church and alot of other things. She would loose wieght and gain weight and loose weight and gain weight. She can't have red meat (which she LOVES) and can not have alot of salt. She tell her kids to not eat non healthy choice and also if they ask her for a Fruit Roll-Up she will tell them to read the label. Chandra asked her lost 71 pounds!!!! We would of never thought she was so obese because she is so BEAUTIFUL! She likes to bound with her kids. She agrees with Faith that over weight is some times caused by depresion. Julia said that her mom saw photo shop pictures that her hips where smaller than her head. Emily asked does she have dessert. She somestimes have a little bit of sweats. There is no way she will not live with out having a little bit of sweats. She does have dessert. She likes to go to the gym. She would rather be outside than at the gym. She showed us some of her hiking trips. She said that she should be enjoying the beach more. Her daughters are Kennedy and Ashtin. She would eat alot of food.

I think change means to do something different to try something new.
I think change means to shape the world in a good way!

On Monday March 1 we watched a video on health and fittness. We learned how important it is to be fit. Then we did our Digital Divas pledge. After we did that Chandra told us what she had done the monday before on the blog. Faith had interviewed her grandma and her aunt and asked them some questions on how, and why to be fit. Emily had found the 3 benifits of fittness they are less stress, brainpower, and energy. We decided to do a survey on what kids favorite sports are. Then a question that was asked was how do you know how much excersise is good for you? We discused that and said that too much excersise can be bad for you but if you do little by little excersise it can be better. Then Claire had some questions and answers that she thought of. After all that Emma, Amanda, and Claire did a song on fittness. Then Allison B., Emily, Sidney and I did a remix to the song "Fireflies". Then we signed up for E-Pals From Florida!!!!!!!! At the very end of Digital Divas Katie took a bunch of pictures of us.

and talked about the website "Emily in the Outdoors" and watched one of her videos.

Feburary 7,2010

At our Digital Divas meeting today, we said our pledge, just like usual. Then we talked about all of our ideas to promote fitness. Such as, we could call a newspaper, get our address on paper just like Christmas, do the fun run, have a healthy food station, have a Challenge blog where we make up a healthy challenge and then you blog back about your progress, make a blog that says what would happen if you didn't work out, kids around O'Neill could have a spedometer for a challenge, and Map My Run. Then our teachers said that POSSIBLY we could get our shoe design on an actual shoe by Nike! Next we explained who Carol Anne (our hero) was to the new girls. Next we talked about our answers to the question, "What is unique about our community?" Our response to that is, that we have the big shamrock on our main street, how we are always so close to farms (even at school there are farms right by it!), how we have two radio stations for a small town, how we are on top of the Ogalala Aquifer, and that we have to drive an hour and a half just to get to a Walmart. Then we talked about our answers to the question, "Why do you want to be a part of WOW (ROW) 12?" We want to be a part of WOW 12 because we want to make more people healthy.

This is the Digital Divas 5th grade jingle (tune to Fireflies by Owl City).
You would not believe your eyes with the Digital Divas surprise. We strike the world with technology. We pledge to walk and rock with respect as we talk. We want to make the world scream. The Digital Divas want to make the world be tolerant and active but everything is never as it seems.


On Monday February 1, 2010 the digital divas met again. As the first few girls arrived we had chocolate chip bars. Then we watched change the world in five minutes. after that we brainstormed ideas for lots of things like a fundraiser, running in the fun run and a kids exercise program. then we did stations first there was a designing station to design a logo or a t-shirt design. the next one was a station to design a jingle or poem. there was also a station to write a pledge that we will start saying before we start digital divas. we ended are digital divas with a dance party.

On Monday , January 25, 2010 we had our first Digital Divas meeting of the year we are thinking of applyin Rock Our World again. This time the topic is fitness they asked us to Design a Shoe and think of a way for more kids to be heathy.


Our website is www.tinyurl.com/divasrock we discussed that on the website is all of the stuff that we have done from all of the years.


We also are welcoming 4 new members into our group. Some of the girls ideas for our Rock our World solution where we can have a Wii Fit tournament ( Julia .E. ), a heathy food day so people can try new heathy foods ( Chandra ) Talk to teachers, doctors, coachs, gymnastics teachers, dance teachers, PEPCO, ect... ( Everyone ),girls can come have fun and do fitness activities and win prizes ( Mrs. Troester ), do an exersise actictivity at the end of each meeting ( Teachers ).


We also discussed about Nike Plus chips nike plus is a thing can can help people keep track of them walking and running it keeps track of them on your own account on the Nike Plus website.


We also talked about making a life around here video it does NOT have anything to do with Rock Our world we just thought it would be a fun thing to do. If we choose to make this video it would tell people about our town and what is the best thing about our town well... our Saint Patricks Day Celebration of course so our idea is to film our video during the St. patricks Day activites.


We talked about making just digital divas t-shirts to wear and show that we are a Digital Diva. Everyone is going to come up with designs and share them at our next meeting. Another thing that we are going to share are our pledges that we came up with. Mrs. Troester was thinking that we should have a pledge to say before we start each meeting. We were also talking about the Family night for Rock our World. Mrs. Morrow said that it will be during the summer so each girl needs to set aside the date of their new summer activity. We also made a new email address that when you want to send us mail you just type this one in and we will all get the email that you sent us. The email address is thedigitaldivas@googlegroups.com.


So that's our summery of our first Digital Divas meeting.
